Alberta M. (Etchison) McGraw, 94, entered heavenly rest from the Alexandria Care Center on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, following an extended illness.
She was born May 25, 1923, in Alexandria, to Ora Austin and Bertha (Duncan) Etchison, and has lived in Alexandria all of her lifetime. Alberta was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1941.
She worked in production at Delco-Remy for 32 years retiring in 1975. She was a faithful member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church, where she belonged to the S.A.L.T. Society and the Loyalty Sunday School class. She was a member of United Auto Workers Local 662, the former Alexandria Business and Professional Women, the former Alexandria Association of Widowed Persons and the former Alexandria Lioness Club. She served as a volunteer at the Alexandria Emergency Relief Fund and as a Pink Lady at Community Hospital-Anderson.
She is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Steve) Eden of Alexandria; grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Webb of Greenfield and John (Annie) Eden of Morgantown; great-grandchildren, Shelby Webb, Luke Webb, Emma Eden, Kendall Eden and Kenzie Eden; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myron McGraw in 1988; her son, Michael McGraw in 2010; a grandson, Shane Perry; and seven siblings.
Services honoring Alberta's life and legacy will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at the Alexandria First Baptist Church, 2108 S. Park Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Michael Deutsch officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
Friends are invited to call at the church after noon on Tuesday prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested the Alexandria First Baptist Church through the funeral home.
