Alice's Story

Alice F. Bir, 84, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at her daughter's home in Indianapolis following an extended illness.
Alice was born on July 30, 1933 in Reynolds, Indiana to Harry and Alfreda (Brehmer) Buschman and has lived in Alexandria for most of her lifetime.
She was a graduate of Reynolds High School-Class of 1951. She and her late husband, Kenneth Bir, founded Action Cooling-Heating of Alexandria in 1982. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Alexandria and an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Alice enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors includie her four daughters, Diane (Larry) Flatford, Andersonville, Tennessee, Connie (Dale) Fuller, Alexandria, Janice (Walter) Vester, Yorktown and Doris (Rick) Daves, Indianapolis;
five sons, Bob (Diane) Bir, Pendleton, Bill (Bo) Bir, David (Cindy) Bir and Loyd (Kim) Bir, all of Alexandria and Clarence (Kris) Bir, Logansport; son-in-law, Butch Hayes, Alexandria;
29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Bir, in 1989; daughter, Wanda Hayes; granddaughter, Jennifer Fuller Thomas; and grandson, Jim Vester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. Monday, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 820 West Madison Street, Alexandria. Father Dan Duff will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. The family will receive friends in the church narthex at 11 a.m. at which time a rosary service will commence. Open visitation will follow the rosary until the time of the Mass at 12:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Mary's Building Fund with envelopes available at the church on Monday.
The Bir family would like to extended their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who have lovingly cared for Alice.
Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria is assisting the Bir family with service arrangements.
