Benjamin Roosevelt Mitchem, 84, passed away at his residence in Lilburn, Georgia, on April 21, 2018.
Benjamin was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Greer, South Carolina, to James and Carrie Mitchem.
Benjamin received his GED in the United States Air Force and was employed at Parker Hannifin Corp. (formerly IDEAL Corp.).
He was a member of the Washington Temple Church of God in Christ where he sung for the Washington Temple Angelic Choir and also sung for the group Spiritual Jubilee. Benjamin enjoyed singing, bowling, traveling, and gambling.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife and partner for 61 years, Patricia Ann (Barton) Mitchem; sons, Darrell L. Mitchem and Anthony D. Mitchem; daughters, Yvonne Mitchem Dummette and Patrice Mitchem; brother, Harold Mitchem; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Carrie (Smith) Mitchem; five brothers, James, Johnny, Morris, Tommy, and Charles; three sisters, Mary, Margaret, and Naomi.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1540 W. 16th St., Anderson, Indiana. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday prior to service.
