Benny's Story

Benny Harold Osborne, 85, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, at St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Anderson.
He was born in Indianapolis, Ind., on April 21, 1931, the son of Ben and Mary Jane Osborne.
Ben was a 1951 graduate of Thorntown High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United State Marine Corp and served his country with honor during the Korean War. Ben received a Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Ribbon and a United States Service Ribbon.
He began his working career as a truck driver with Emge Packing Co. and continued to work there for over 40 years.
Ben was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an animal lover as well. Ben was a devoted companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. His memberships included Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 0127 and the 40&8 Veterans Organization.
Survivors include his companion, Linda Shaw of Anderson; children, Howard Boyer and wife, Jannie of Anderson, Ramona Haggstrom and husband, Mike of Yorktown, Angela "Sissy" Warrum and husband, Tim of Anderson; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Margaret Stein and husband, Bill of Plainfield, and Mary Holt of Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Myers & Hunt Mortuary, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Warrum officiating.
Interment with military rites will follow services at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
