ANDERSON — Betty Irene Towne, 85, of Anderson, passed away on March 2, 2015, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. She was born on Oct. 30, 1929, in Anderson and resided most of her life in Anderson. Betty graduated from Anderson High School and Indiana Business College. She retired in 1988 from the State of Indiana after 30 years of service. She was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash in 1988. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and spending winters in Florida at the beach and playing golf. Betty is survived by her loving spouse whom she married Sept. 30, 1951, Jack G. Towne of Anderson; son, Larry G. (Lynn) Towne of Pendleton; grandchildren, Trent (Katrina) Towne and Stacy Towne; great-grandchildren, Molly and Peyton Towne. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jacque Jones; brother, Leroy Yates; mother, Iva Yates; and father, Roy Yates. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Dr. Art Jaggard officiating. Special soloist will be Tom Friend. Burial of ashes will take place in Anderson Memorial Park at a later date.
