Carolyn "Aunt C" Blankenhorn, 83, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Community Hospital of Anderson.
She was born June 8, 1934, in Loraine, Ohio, to Patrick and Helen (Hennesy) Blankenhorn. She was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio High School-Class of 1952. Carolyn lived in Indianapolis for more than 40 years and most recently in Alexandria for the past 15 years. Carolyn served in the Women's Army Corps (WACs) during the Korean War. She worked as a nursing assistant at the former Winona Hospital in Indianapolis for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church of Alexandria. She enjoyed caring for animals, reading, music, walks and traveling. She loved her family very deeply and their family gatherings and visits always brought her much pleasure and enjoyment.
Survivors include her brother, Louis (Rita) Blankenhorn of Armada, Michigan; cousins, Joann Nisley Saucedo, Donna Key-Kerr, Barrett (Anastasia) Key and their daughter, Etta, Bradley (Tennille) Key, Becca Key-Kerr and her son, Ade.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a cousin, Greg Saucedo.
Services honoring Carolyn's life and legacy will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, in Our Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, 309 W. Washington St., Alexandria, with Pastor Kal Rissman officiating. Cremation will follow the services with private interment of the cremains in Park View Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. on Sunday at the church prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Madison County Humane Society through the funeral home.
