Catherine L. Courter, 102, of Anderson, passed away March 1, 2017 at her residence. She was born Nov. 23, 1914 in Sullivan County, Indiana and resided most of her life in Anderson. She came to Anderson in 1933. She retired from Delco Remy in 1979.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church for 62 years, serving as United Methodist Women President for two years and various other areas of the church and was a member of the Victorian Lang Circle and also church Women United. She was also a member of the Lady Elks and ex-member of American Business Women.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis R (V. Susan Cook) Courter, Crystal Lake, Illinois, Garry W. Courter and Brian A. Courter, of Anderson.
She was preceded in death by husband, Raymond C. Courter, in 1974; parents, William and Blanche Lewellyn; four brothers, Elmer Lewellyn, of Dugger, Louis Lewellyn, of Sullivan, Basil Lewellyn and John Edmonson, of Anderson; several nieces and nephews, which she was very fond of; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Juanita (W.S.) Woodmansee, Helen (Ralph) Courter, Cedric Courter and Dorothy (Dan) Greene, all of Marion.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Mathys officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or charity of donor's choice.
