Charles's Story

Charles Richard Steigerwalt, 83, a resident of Chesterfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 following a long illness.
He was born Jan. 4, 1935 in Dunkirk, Indiana, a son of the late Harry and Frances Wright Steigerwalt.
Charles was a graduate of Dunkirk High School and had resided in Dunkirk and Chesterfield most of his life. He served with the United States Army and he was a member of the North Christian Church in Markleville, and he had also attend the Ovid Church.
Mr. Steigerwalt was retired from Marsh Supermarket after 39 years of service driving a semi truck.
He enjoyed family activities, fishing, IU Basketball and traveling. For several years Mr. Steigerwalt was a youth camp director for the Cobick Church Camp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Frances Wright Steigerwalt; and one sister, Donna Adams.
Left to cherish his loving memory include his wife, Pauline Lawson Steigerwalt; son, Kevin (Amy) Steigerwalt, Jonesborough, Tennessee; stepchildren, Steve and Cindy Mossburg, Ttexas, Kenneth and Penny Lawson, Rushville, Ernie and Terrie Crabtree, Winter Haven, Florida and Russhelle and Darren Jester, New Castle; two brothers Harold and Juanita Steigerwalt, Muncie and Neal and Joan Steigerwalt, West Virginia; two sisters, Marjorie Weltner, Largo, Florida and Becky Dunn, Salem, Oregon; 10 grandchildren, Tom Mossburg, Brian Mossburg, Brittney Mossburg, Luke Steigerwalt, Jennifer Crabtree, Kathy Crabtree, Suzanne Lawson, Ethan Jester and Hannah Jester; also several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 600 S Main St. New Castle, IN.
The funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Jerome Bell officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, 6805 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. in Anderson, IN.
