Charles Eugene "Gene" Weed, 92, of Anderson, passed away on Jan. 23, 2018, at Community Hospital Anderson.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1925, in Anderson to Charles and Freda (Norris) Weed. He resided in Anderson and Alexandria all his life.
Gene graduated from Alexandria High School and General Motors Institute with a degree in engineering.
He retired from Delco Remy after 38 years of service.
He attended First Baptist Church in Anderson. He was a 50-year member of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge 77, a member of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite, Order of Eastern Star 154 where he was very active and held several offices, Grandview Golf Club, National Federated Craft 84, Anderson Noon Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Fellow Designation Award and coordinator of Alberta Bowman VITA Tax Center where he volunteered for 30 years.
Gene loved all sports, his favorite was golf. He played for over 60 years and one highlight was his golf score of 86 which was the same as his age. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team.
Gene is survived by his loving spouse of 70 years, Dorothy (Bright) Weed; daughter, Carol (Greg) Thomas of New Palestine; "adopted" daughter, Mary Ann Thomas; and special friend, Jim Ballentine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stan Weed; and sister, Rozella Wilson.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, Indiana.
Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Art Jaggard officiating.
Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
