Former Anderson resident Cleta May Taylor Davis, 87, died Jan. 31 2017.
She was born Oct. 2, 1929, in Burnt Prairie, Ill., to Jesse and Nora (Mayberry) Taylor. Cleta moved to Anderson when she was 10 years old, where she graduated Anderson high school in 1946. While attending Anderson High she met and married James B. Davis, who preceded her in death 2004.
Cleta worked for Sears in Anderson before moving to Walpole, Mass., in 1967 where she continued working for Sears in Dedham and Natick. After Cleta's retirement from Sears Cleta and Jim enjoyed their time as tour guides traveling the Atlantic seaboard. In 2002 Cleta and Jim moved to Falling Waters W.Va., where she lived until returning to Massachusetts in 2013.
Cleta will always be remembered for her fondness of animals and her devotion to her nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She always said the last one to be born was the "smartest and most beautiful there ever was.."
Cleta is also survived by her sister, Mary (Lou) Axelberg of South Bend, Ind.; her sons, James W. of Indianapolis, Ind., Dan M. (wife, Mary) of Westminster, Vt., Douglas L. (wife, Jane) of Foxboro, Mass., Jane Davis Mason (late husband, Raymond), and Michelle Davis Bier (husband, Shawn), all of Tampa, Fla.; plus a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, June 24, at 11 a.m.
