Daniel C. "Dan" Teachnor, age 65, of Noblesville and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at his residence following a courageous two-year battle with MDS/AML.
Dan was born in Elwood on March 25, 1952, to the late Carl and Suzanne (LeChevalier) Teachnor. Dan was a 1969 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School and then entered into the United States Marine Corps. He served from 1969 to 1975 and then served seven years in the National Guard.
On Nov. 17, 1990, Dan married Patricia A. "Trish" (Pipkin) Teachnor and they shared over 27 years of marriage together.
Dan was a millwright for General Motors for 33 years and retired in July of 2008. He was a member of the White River Christian Church in Noblesville where he was baptized in September of 2013. Dan was led to Christ by his friend Sally Selfors, who was a missionary for many years in Bolivia. He was a former member of the Elks in Elwood and Florida, the Moose Lodge and the Elwood Country Club. Dan was a former Little League coach at the Elwood Harry Bridges Little League and was the former president of the league. He enjoyed golf, tennis and bowling.
Dan was an excellent and loving husband, father, pappaw, son, and brother. He loved being pappaw to his grandchildren and will be remembered as being the best pappaw ever. Dan will be forever sadly missed but lovingly remembered by his family and many friends.
Dan is survived by his wife, Trish Teachnor; sons, Dustin (Jacki) Teachnor, Timothy (Katie) Graham and Jason (Cassandra) Bingham; grandchildren, Delaney and Mia Teachnor, and Ashlyn, Trista, Trayton and Mason Bingham; brothers; Carl (Melissa (deceased)) Teachnor, Jr., Henri (Diana) Teachnor, John (Katy) Teachnor; sisters, Suzanne (Jeffrey) Miller, Francoise "Chic" (Mike) Holtsclaw, Rebecca (Robert) Peters, Jacqueline (Tim) Curts; former spouse and mother of Dustin, Carole Porter; brother of Dustin, Troy (Erica) Powell; and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Perre Teachnor; son, Tony Bingham; and daughter, Kelli Powell.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at White River Christian Church, 1685 N. 10th St., Noblesville, IN 46060, with Phil Heller from White River Christian Church of Noblesville officiating. Burial will follow in the Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville with full military funeral honors conducted by the United States Marine Corps.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., Elwood, IN 46036.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
