Darlene (Manring) Warfield, 69, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born Jan. 25, 1948, in Alexandria, to Herman and Deloris (Slain) Manring, and was a lifetime resident of the Alexandria area.
Darlene was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School-Class of 1966. She also received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State University. She taught English at Highland High School for 31 years, retiring in 2005.
She was a lifelong member of Epworth United Methodist Church, rural Alexandria, and was very active in the church. She enjoyed walking, reading, swimming, and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Warfield, whom she married Dec. 22, 1974; daughter, Cara (Garrett) Miller, Fishers; sister, Camilla Smith, Alexandria; two grandsons, Mason Miller and Clayton Miller, both of Fishers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Doris Mae Kellum and Ruth Miller.
Services honoring Darlene's life and legacy will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Alexandria. Pastor Jerry Young will officiate. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Saturday prior to the services.
