Darrion Lamont Johnson Darrion Lamont Johnson, 20, unexpectedly departed this life for his heavenly home on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016.
Darrion, born Dec. 9, 1995, in Muncie, was the son of Angela R. Anderson and the late Carlin S. Johnson Sr.
He attended True Vine Daycare, preschool at United Daycare Center, Claypool Elementary, Northside Middle School and graduated from Muncie Central High School. While attending Northside Middle School in Muncie, he received an award from the United States Achievement Academy of Who's Who Among National Honor Student for the year 2007-2008. Criterias for selection were Academics, Citizenship, Leadership, Attitude and Dependability. He also attended art classes at Ball State University during his sixth thru eighth grades. Then ninth grade he attended Cornerstone Center for the Arts. He was well known for his amazing artwork. His love for music was incredible. Known as DJ Cloud to his friends, he would compose beats on his computer and keyboards. He and his friends would spend hours making tracks together. Skateboarding was another one of his loves. He truly enjoyed being with his family.
While living in Anderson, he attended Liberty Christian School (kindergarten) and Edgewood Elementary (first through fifth grades). He also enjoyed Scouts, Webelos Troop 325, karate and active at Allen Chapel AME Church.
Darrion was formerly employed at MCL in Muncie Mall and Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his mother, Angela R. Anderson; stepmother, Jamila Johnson; grandmothers, Retha (Granville) Bell and Faye Johnson; grandfather, Preston Anderson; siblings, Jaylana Welch, Carlin S. Johnson Jr., William C. Johnson and Khalil Johnson; uncles, James Campbell III and Ryan (Kay) Johnson; aunt, Dionna McGairk; very, very special close cousins, Tori McGairk, Chris Johnson, Ozmond Clark, Coray Simon Jr. and Charles Barber; and a host of loving great-aunts, great-uncles and other cousins.
Those who proceeded on to Glory before him were his father, Carlin S. Johnson Sr.; and paternal grandfather, William Carl Johnson.
D, as he was affectionately known, was a beautiful kind hearted soul, a free spirit, had much concern for others and a loving individual. Always met you with a hug and "how you doing". To know him was to absolutely love him. He was just beginning his journey of life as an independent young man full of whatever life held for him. His family and friends will truly miss him.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gholar & Gholar Funeral Service, 900 E. Kirby Ave., Muncie, with Pastor Wayne Redding officiating. Calling 9 a.m. until services. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
