David Lee Hendricks, 72 of Athens, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on June 12, 1944, in Anderson, to Herman and Eva (Sturdevant) Hendricks.
David graduated from Muncie Central High School and he retired from General Motors after working in many plants across the country.
He was a very generous man who donated to many charities. He was an avid golfer.
David is survived by his best friend, Lynn Ryan; two brothers, Bill (wife, Diane) Hendricks and Myron (wife, Kathy) Hendricks; a sister-in-law, Norma "Pee Dad" Hendricks; and his beloved dog, Lady (Butter Bean).
He was preceded in death by a son, Todd Hendricks; a brother, Harry Hendricks; and a sister, Norma Snyder.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brookside Cemetery, 2900 Brookside Road, Lapel, with Pastor Glenn Knepp officiating. Burial will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
