Dewey E. Ward, 77, Lapel, passed away Sunday at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born on April 7, 1940, in Roane, Tennessee to David and Ella Mae (Jordan) Ward.
Dewey was a U.S. Army veteran.
He retired from the Anderson Community Schools.
Dewey was a member of the Stony Creek Road Riders motorcycle club.
He is survived by four children, Daniel Ward, Karen (Randy) Brooks, Doug Ward and Dana Ward; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Tinch; and a brother, Ronnie Ward.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tammy Jean Ward; and a son, Darrin Ward.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at East Maplewood Cemetery, 200 College Drive, Anderson, where burial will follow.
There will be no visitation.
