Dissie W. Alexander, 84, Anderson, transitioned on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, following an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Shoffner, Ark., the daughter of Izetta Jordan and Monroe Warner Sr. Raised in Arkansas, she married Booker T. Alexander Sr. in 1947 and moved to Anderson in 1950.
Dissie is survived by her daughter, Edith Alexander, Indianapolis; sons, Billy, Willie and Richard Alexander, all of Anderson; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Alexander, Anderson; grandchildren, Mushell Kelley, William Underwood, Christina Alexander, Michael (Dana) Alexander, Twan Alexander, Kenya Alexander, Will Alexander, Jonetta Alexander, Alexis Alexander and John Alexander; great-grandchildren, Tyler Kelley, Shaolin Newsom, Kamarius Underwood, Shekayra Humphrey, Chrishaun Alexander, Sha-Ron Fuller, Stashaun Hamilton, Sydnee Alexander, C.J. Alexander, Nevaeh Alexander, Ariyah Cowley, Aubrey Taylor, Jace Alexander, Jameel Alexander and Jailyn Alexander; great-great-granddaughter, Bryelle Long; sister, Vera Warner-Calhoun; and brothers, Lucius (Francine) Jordan, James L. (Daisy) Warner, Fred (Carolyn) Warner. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Booker; parents Izetta and Monroe Warner Sr.; sons Booker Jr., Allen and Johnny Alexander; granddaughter Katasha Alexander, grandson William Tate Alexander; great-grandson Kenya Alexander Jr.; two sisters; and four brothers.
Services will be at noon Monday at Anderson Zion Baptist Church with Rev. L.D. Clay officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. to noon Monday. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
