Donald "The Don" Lee Jones, 91, passed peacefully at his home on June 25, 2017.
He was born on Jan. 24, 1926, in Anderson. He is now reunited with his "unforgettable" wife, Jackie Jones.
Don was a lifelong resident of Anderson. He was the beloved son of Olive Martin and Lyman P. Jones. Don attended Anderson High School and then entered the United States Marine Corps. He served honorably in the South Pacific during World War II. He began working for Indiana Bell shortly thereafter and retired after 37 years of service.
Don was a brother within the Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge 77 and a member of the Anderson Moose Lodge, American Legion, Eagles and Elks.
Don started his love for golf playing with his wife in many couples leagues throughout the Madison County area. Don loved bowling, playing cards, going dancing with Jackie and spending summers with his family and friends at the Jones cottage at Indiana Beach.
Don leaves a large family for which he was very proud. He is survived by his three sons, Danny (Rene), Gary (Cindy May), and Monty (Tracy); grandchildren, Mindy (James) Dickson, Rachael (Jamie) Martin, Leah (George )Tranbarger, Dara (Josh) Moore, Matt (Amanda) Jones, Linzi Jones, Donnie (Andrea) Jones, Jaime Jones, Elliot (Misty) Jones and Shelby (Alex) Maddox; 16 great- grandchildren; and special friend, Patty Jones Crosley.
Visitation with be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory in Anderson. The Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge 77 will conduct a memorial service at the start of the funeral service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Shriners Hospital for children.
