Donald L. Odom ANDERSON [mdash] Donald L. Odom, 81, lifetime Madison County resident, died at Bethany Pointe Health Campus after an extended illness.
He was born May 23, 1937, in Madison County, the son of Lawrence V. and Edith P. Fairfield. He graduated Anderson High School in 1955 and attended Ball State University. He was a member of Bethany Christian Church. He was affiliated for 15 years with White River Little League as coach, manager and president.
Donald was prior owner of Reeder Heating and Air Conditioning. He also served as pastor at Vermillion Friends Church. He was a member of Lions Club, receiving the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award; member of Indiana PHCC and served as president; loved bowling, golfing and Labor Day camping with his family. He enjoyed Anderson High School basketball and attending all of his family's activities and sporting events.
Donald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda (Reeder) Odom, whom he married April 16, 1955; children, D. Kent (Susan) Odom, D. Rene (Mark) Hart, Karen (Douglas) McMahan, David (Katrina) Odom, Deanna (Cary) House, Darren (Tracy) Odom; sisters, Joan (Mick) Johns, Norita Alexander, Judy Ellingwood; grandchildren, D.J. Odom, Bradley Odom, Matthew (Nicole) Odom, David Rezendes, Bradlee Going, Stephanie Going, Christian Going, Jacob (Amanda) Donnelly, Joseph (Shea) Hart, Maggie (Derek) Yocum, Maxwell (Abby) Hart, Alex McMahan, Katherine McMahan, Nick Odom, Cassie Odom, Ben (Kayla) House, Fletcher House, McKenzie (Nathan) Byers, Braden Odom; 21 great-grandchildren, Pierce, Avery, Ethan, Kaila, Sierra, Jacob, Robbie, Hanna, Kayelynn, Ian, Leighla, Leland, Nolyn, Easten, Isabella, Aiden, Ava Grace, Jillian, Zyan, Greyson and Calvin; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Hubert and Robert; and granddaughters, Hayleigh and Daisy.
A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at Bethany Christian Church, officiated by Bob Bell and Gabe Ohmes. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 2 p.m. at the church.
In the spirit of the Christmas season, the family would prefer donations to be made to the Christian Center or the Salvation Army to assist people in our community who need help at this time of year.
