Eric Gregory Miller INGLIS, Fla. [mdash] Eric Gregory Miller, 51, of Inglis, Florida, passed away peacefully at the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit in Lecanto, Florida, on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019. Eric had been battling diabetes, kidney failure, and other health issues related to his childhood battle with leukemia.
Eric was born on Oct. 25, 1967, in East Chicago, Indiana, but lived in Anderson, Indiana, for most of his life. He was a 1987 graduate of Anderson High School and attended Vincennes University. Eric worked many jobs in the Central Indiana area, most notably as a welder for Wessels in Indianapolis, Indiana. He last worked for 53rd Street Secure Storage in Anderson, Indiana, before retiring to Inglis, Florida, in 2016.
Eric met the love of his life, Georgia Ooten, while working at Indiana Grand Racing and Casino in Shelbyville, Indiana, and they had been together for the past 10 years.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth E. (Manring) Miller.
He is survived by his life partner, Georgia Ooten of Inglis, Florida; his father, Robert W. Miller of Anderson, Indiana; brothers, Alan R. Miller and family of Anderson, Indiana, Brian P. Miller and family of Greendale, Wisconsin, Mark D. Miller of Anderson, Indiana; sisters, Jill (Miller) Lucas and family of Cicero, Indiana, and Amanda (Miller) Hoback of Simpsonville, Kentucky. He is also survived by five nieces and two nephews.
Cremation care will be provided by Strickland Funeral Home of Crystal River, Florida.
No services are planned at this time, but the family does anticipate conducting a celebration of life in both Florida, and at the First Presbyterian Church in Anderson, Indiana, later this year in either March or April.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health.
