Esther M. Burger, 89, of Frankton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at Community Hospital.
She was born Dec. 1, 1928, to Walter and Mary (Schoettmer) Crowell.
On April 25, 1950, she married the love of her life, James A. Burger, and he passed away on May 30, 2000.
Esther was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Elwood. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caregiver. Esther loved to volunteer where she was very active in the Frankton community with Frankton Heritage Days, Self Help Group, Food Pantry, and delivering meals to the precinct workers during Election Day for over 40 years. Esther was a Pink Lady for 37 years at Community Hospital.
Esther is survived by two sons, James (Debra) Burger of Dahlonega, Georgia, and Bart Burger of Frankton; four grandchildren, April Johnson, Amilyn (Lance) Stange, Alisa Sanders, and Zachary (Jenna) Burger; 12 great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Jayda, Izaiah, Aries, Braden, Bryson, Brielle, Brynnley, Mathena, Tanea, Laylah, and Harper; sister, Grace Alexander of Frankton; brother, Anthony (Mike) Crowell of Connersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her father, Walter Crowell; mother, Mary Crowell; husband, James A Burger; brothers, George, Eddie, Robert, and Jimmie Crowell; and sister, Dorothy Hendrickson.
Funeral service celebrating Esther's life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton with Russell Brashear officiating. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church building fund.
