ANDERSON Evah J. Dawkins, age 94 of Anderson and formerly of Elwood and Princeton, Ind., died July 16, 2017, at Bethany Pointe in Anderson. She was born June 21, 1923, in Salem, Ill., one of 13 children born to Charles and Libbie (Marlowe) Collier. She was a graduate of Salem High School, and later married Ross A. Dawkins.
Evah lived in Princeton for most of her life prior to moving closer to her daughter in Elwood. She previously owned and operated Eve's Apparel in Princeton for 17 years. She was formerly a member of Broadway Christian Church in Princeton and attended First United Methodist Church in Elwood in recent years. She was also a member of Tri-Kappa Sorority. She was devoted to caring for her family.
Evah's family includes daughter, Dr. Becky (Dr. Tom) Moser, of Elwood; son, Charles Dawkins, of Miami, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Beth Dawkins, of Jasper; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Evah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ross A. Dawkins, in 1995; son, Dr. Phillip R. Dawkins, in 2008; and many siblings.
A graveside service will be Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. (Elwood time) and 2:30 p.m. (Princeton time) at the Columbia Church Cemetery in Princeton, Ind., with her grandson, Rev. Todd Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow.
