Everett "Jerry" Riley

November 15, 1929 - October 09, 2018

Everett Jerry Riley Everett "Jerry" Riley, 88, is survived by his wife, Carol Riley; along with their four children, Mike Riley, Cindy Fritz, Terri Hicks and Gary Riley. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Mike Riley (Jr.), Heather Sawyer, Daniel Riley, Derrick Smith, Jayson Smith, Melissa Riley, Travis Smith, Cassie Eller, Chelsey Parr, Marcus Vandiver and Allison Parr; as well as twenty-seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, one brother, many other loved ones to include Lambert's Music Center and their special friends there. He is preceded in death by his mother, Virgina Alspaugh; his brother, Bobby Riley; and his grandson, Jeremy Fritz.
Jerry lived an exceptional life with the woman of his dreams by his side for 67 years. From humble beginnings, he spent his life in Indiana. A man of all trades, he held many jobs, from working on a steamboat at the age of 14, to Howe Fire Apparatus when he met Carol, 12 years with the New York Central Railroad and 12 years with General Motors.
Known for his many hobbies, he was a craftsman and a perfectionist, as well as an Amateur Radio Operator (N9ETL), a member of the Madison County R/C Flyers, a train enthusiast, a fisherman, played Santa Clause and too many more to mention. He was a good friend and a great man who would always step up to the plate whenever needed.
Carol and Jerry purchased their home in 1963. Known as "The Riley Motel," there they raised their children and many grandchildren, then showered their great-grandchildren with love. Jerry's second love was his family. The most selfless couple you would have ever met, their legacy will not be monetary or material things. Rather it's unconditional love for their family, the values they instilled in them, the endless memories they have created, their patience and the life lessons they taught. This was evident when Jerry was surrounded by love, laughter and tears with his adoring wife and their family by his side as he took his last breath.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service - Anderson. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m.
