Flora L. 'Flo' Anderson
She was a 1941 graduate of Frankton High School and graduated from Indianapolis City Hospital School of Nursing. Flo enlisted in the U.S. Army as a nurse during World War II. She married Billy E. "Bill" Anderson on Dec. 24, 1956.
She was a member of Frankton United Methodist Church. She was a 75-year member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star and a 50-year member and past president of Beta Chapter of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. Flo was formerly a board member of the Visiting Nurse Association; active with Meals on Wheels; and served breakfast at Youth for Christ events. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and gardening; and was devoted to her family. She believed her greatest achievement was raising three children to become loving, caring individuals and good citizens.
Flo's family includes three children, Greg (Patty) Drake of Kokomo, Jeanne Jones of Fishers, and Marianne (Jay) Whitaker of Anderson; six grandchildren, Holly (Brad) Powell, Heidi (Jim) Abel, Geoff (Nicole) Cook, Erin (Darlene) Cook, Hannah Whitaker, and Eliana Whitaker; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Sydney, Payton, Colin, Mya, and Micah; sister, Millicent (Bob) Harrison of Frankton; brother-in-law, Joseph Anderson of Bradenton, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Anderson in 2014; four siblings, George Harper Jr., John Harper, Jean Marie Harper, and Marina Jane Cox.
Flo's funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Frankton United Methodist Church in Frankton with the Rev. Nathan Whybrew officiating. Burial will be in K of P/IOOF Cemetery in Frankton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood and will include consecutive memorial services by the Order of Eastern Star, Delta Theta Tau, and Nursing Honor Guard all starting at 6 p.m. The Nurses Honor Guard will provide vigil during visitation. There will an hour of visitation prior to the funeral on Saturday at the church.
