Francis Xavier 'Frank' Shanabarger

Francis Xavier 'Frank' Shanabarger KOKOMO [mdash] Francis Xavier "Frank" Shanabarger, 80, Kokomo, passed away Friday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2019, at his home.
He was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John L. and Esther W. (Finnegan) Shanabarger.
Francis married Joyce K. Landis at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Peru on May 17, 1958, and she survives.
Frank graduated from Peru High School in 1957. He attended Manchester College and received a bachelor of science degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He also received certification from the Dale Carnegie Program and later was an instructor. He worked and retired from General Motors Corp. as a tool and die model maker, committeeman and union representative.
As a master craftsman in woodworking he also held a teaching position at Ivy Tech Community College in Kokomo. His pastimes were beekeeping, realtor development, business trades and world traveling. Throughout his life, he was an active member of both St. Joan of Arc and St. Patrick parishes in Kokomo.
Along with the love of his life, Joyce, Frank is survived by children, Teresa (Roger) Schwartz, Kokomo, Chris (Lenora) Shanabarger, Kokomo, Julie (David) Boys, Anderson, and Elizabeth D'Agostino (fiancé, Tim Simpson), Kokomo; also in mourning are nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Louise Cochran, George Shanabarger, John Shanabarger, and William "Bill" Shanabarger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 58 W. Fifth St., Peru, Indiana, with Father Paul Cochran the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, and one hour prior to service on Saturday at the church.
