Garnell 'Gunchie' Hood Sr. Garnell "Gunchie" Hood Sr., 51, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 1, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital.
Garnell was born May 2, 1967, to Johnny Hood and the late Earnestine Hood.
He was full of life, enjoying driving his truck, scraping around town and spending time with family and friends.
Garnell was survived by wife of 26 years, Janeda Rose Taylor Hood; sons, Jamar Hyatt, Kristoff Hyatt, Garnell Hood Jr. and D'Andre Lamar Hood; grandchildren Kristoff Hyatt Jr., Kristonn Hyatt, Candace Hyatt and Brayden Garnell Hood; father Johnny (Versie) Hood Sr., of Decatur, Illinois; sisters Mitzi Jenkins, Delores (Odell) Wilkerson, Linda Watson, Sandra Watson, Lora Watson, of Lousiville, Kentucky, and Marquira (Robert) Williams; brothers Johnny Hood, Victor (Cindy) Hood, Donnie (Christy) Owens, Keith (Heidi) Owens, Willie Baker and Johnny (Lorraine) Hayes; special uncle, Robert Hood Sr.; godbrother, Antonio Dabney; special cousin, Betty Jean Allen; father-in-law, LeVone Taylor; sister-in-law, LaVonda (Jason) Taylor-Stokes, of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of family and friends.
Garnell was preceded in death by his mother; stepfather, L.C. Watson; brother, Roy Scott; sister, Jean Owens; godsister, Veronica Sweeting; mother-in-law, DeGlorpus Taylor; grandmother, Lillie Mae Brown, and grandmother-in-law, Rosa Dani.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Glazebrooks Funeral Services, 2822 Nichol Ave.
