George W. King, 74, passed away peacefully with family gathered around on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017.
He was born July 3, 1943, in Anderson, to George N. and Carrie King.
George was a graduate of Ball State University with his masters degree in teaching. He retired from Pendleton Heights High School where he taught for 32 years, instructed drivers education, and coached wrestling.
Wrestling was George's life. He started the Wrestling Club at Pendleton Heights in 1969. George was inducted into the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1987. He loved being a major part of the wrestling teams, even years after retirement. George was also a class sponsor many times throughout his career.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice; son, Chris; sister, Kay Hughes; and four granddaughters, Allison (Courtney) and Abigail Welton, Olivia and Sophie King.
George was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer King; and two sisters.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services in Anderson, on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m.
