Georgeanna Ruth (Coyle) Zettel died peacefully at her home surrounded by her four daughters on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018.
Georgeanna was born on Aug. 19, 1924, to George and Bernice (Greenlee) Coyle in Alexandria. She graduated from Alexandria High School in 1942. She was married to James Leo Zettel on Nov. 21, 1946, until Jim's death in 1993. Together they had four daughters: Jan (Tom) Urban, Rosanna (John) Scholl, Mary (Joe) Kirk and Rita Harris (Greg Bristow).
She has lived in Alexandria her whole life and over the years worked in the Alexandria Clerk's office and the Monroe Township Trustee's office.
She loved dancing with her husband and spending time with family and friends especially her daughters. Over the years, she had many interests including, sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, canning, making jelly and homemade noodles and fried chicken. She was a great role model for her daughters. She loved animals and always cared for at least one pet, during most of her life. She missed family and friends who had gone before her, especially her sister-in-law, Betty Zettel. She had very strong will and in her 80s recovered from both a broken hip and broken shoulder. She maintained her own household until the last few months. She was soft-hearted and gave generously to charities as she could. She was a longtime member of the Eagles Auxiliary #1771, and the Lady Elks. She faithfully attended St. Mary's Catholic Church until she became homebound. She belonged to Kappa Delta Phi sorority.
She is survived by her daughters and sister-in-law, Joan Sloan Ritenour; her grandchildren, Jenny (Brad) DiRuzza, Jeffrey (Lisa) Urban, Andrew (Kelly) Scholl, Benjamin (Jennifer) Scholl and Lucas (Brandy) Gillespie; great-grandchildren, Noah and Olivia DiRuzza, Layla and Chase Urban, Holly and Hudson Scholl, Leo, Spencer and Adeline Gillespie; her nephew, Mark (Janette) Sloan; and her niece, Jody (Jim) Banker.
