He was born Jan. 15, 1936, in Anderson, to Raymond and Anna V. Bulen (Bousman). He resided most of his life on a farm in Pendleton.
He married Peggy Lee Keller on June 24, 1955. They had two children, Gordon Laine Bulen of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Gina Rene Jones (Andrew) of Fishers. After Peggy's death, Gordon married Edie Wardwell, and they were married 24 years.
Gordon graduated from Lapel High School in May of 1955. He carried on his family's legacy by continuing the tradition of farming. In addition, he was employed at General Motors for over 30 years and was also employed several years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service.
He was a member of Bethany Christian Church. He was involved with Masonic Lodge Ovid 164, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine, and Madison County Shrine Club, where he was actively involved with the Desert Patrol.
Gordon leaves behind a legacy of work ethic and a sense of humor and story-telling that he maintained until the last days of his life. There was never a doubt about the things that Gordon loved, especially IU basketball, golf, rhubarb pie, and above all his family.
He is survived by his wife, Edie Bulen; their children, Gordon Laine Bulen, Gina Jones, Steve Hosier, and Cathy Senseney; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
