Gretna J. Schier, a resident of Walla Walla, Washington, and formerly of the Alexandria and Anderson areas, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, in Walla Walla, Washington. She was 93 years old.
At her request, no services will be held. Private ash inurnment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Alexandria, Indiana.
Gretna was born April 29, 1924, in Tipton, Indiana.
She was the daughter of Elmer and Tess (Hobbs) Decker. She was raised and educated Alexandria. After high school, she married Paul Schier in Alexandria. The family had lived in both Alexandria and Anderson. She had worked in production at Guide Lamp, division of General Motors for many years, before she retired in her early '60s.
She had been a member of the Eastern Star as well as the First Christian Church in Alexandria and Anderson. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and also enjoyed helping with events of the Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge.
Her husband preceded her in death in 2004, and she later moved to Walla Walla to be close to her son.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four sisters.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Schier of Walla Walla, Washington.
Arrangements are entrusted to Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt Funeral Home, Walla Walla, Washington.
