Helen "Eloise" McLain, 91, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday July 28, 2017. She was born June 6, 1926, in Henry County, the daughter of Samuel and Faye Riggs.
She was a graduate of Cadiz High School and a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her work, the Indiana Pacers, garage sales and most importantly, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn (husband, Rick) Penn, of Henderson, Nevada, and Teresa Stanley, of Zionsville; her sister, Nila (husband, Ron) Clapp, of Middletown; her grandchildren, Kelly Byrd, Harold "Bubby" Haskett, Tina Trisler, Terry Haskett, Donnie Kennedy, Chris Stanley and Bruce Stanley; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and her special friends and caregivers.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Riggs, and mother, Faye Riggs; two daughters, Jeanne Havens and Karen Sue McLain; brothers, Carl Riggs, Ralph Riggs, Harold Riggs, Chester "Codge" Riggs and Kenny Riggs; and her longtime companion, Lee Whittle.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service begins at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
