Helen's Story

Helen Joanne Ponsler McCord, 79, passed away at home on April 18, 2017.
She was born to Delbert and Marion Ponsler on Aug. 28, 1937, at St. John's Hospital in Anderson and resided in Anderson all of her life.
Helen graduated from Anderson High School in 1955. She was best known around town as the Village Pantry Donut Lady, working at many VP locations.
Helen was known for her unique sense of humor. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, watching Westerns and listening to country music.
She sponsored many go-karts and loved watching her boys race. She also liked watching NASCAR races. She loved having pets in her home and watching the animals in the aquariums. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren.
Left to cherish Helen's memory are her children, David (Rosemary) Young, Rick (Stacy) McCord, Brad (Marlena Friel) McCord, Lisa (Greg) Haan and Martha Young; special daughter, Sisilly Michelle Roberts; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and special friends. Also, special caregiver, Kaleb Airhart.
A celebration of Helen's life will take place at a later date.
Contributions in memory of Helen may be made to the McCord family to help with final expenses.
Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services assisted the family with arrangements.
