Howard Warren Malott died peacefully, surrounded by family at Copper Trace Senior Living, Westfield, Indiana on Jan. 26, 2018, following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 12, 1932 to Earnest P. and Grace (Scott) Malott. Howard grew up in Fairmount and attended Matthews High School until 1947 when his family moved to Texas where he graduated from Lyford High School. Howard served proudly in the Texas National Guard and the United States Navy. Howard and his wife of 62 years, Maryann, settled down in Yorktown in 1962 where they raised their family and Howard worked as an electrician. He retired from Delco Remy in 1998. Howard thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching sports and perfecting his golf game in his retirement.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents Earnest P. and Grace Malott Jones; siblings Lucille Wysong, Mable Green, Nova Ellison, Margaret Royal, Jim Tomlinson, Wayne Tomlinson, Bernice Spangler, Ruby Stair, Frieda Wall, Carl Malott and Earnest Malott.
Howard is survived by his wife, Maryann (Miller) Malott; children, Robin Cline, Yorktown, Leslie (Wes) Hardin, DeKalb, Illinois and Kyle Malott, Westfield; grandchildren, Krista (Anish) Chopra, Marietta, Ohio, Jonathan (Cassie) Cline, McCordsville, Reasner Malott, Eliza Malott and Meredith Malott, Westfield; along with his great-grandchildren, Nathan and Valerie Cline and Isabella Chopra.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 West Isanogel Road. Burial will follow in Hawk Cemetery of Yorktown.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mt. Pleasant mortuary.
