Hoyt Garland Garner, 47, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
Hoyt served his country in the United States Army during the Gulf War and was honorably discharged in 1993.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, watching Colts football, playing cards and helping others. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa (Pratt) Garner; daughters, Lindsay (Zach) Valdez of Portland, Allyson Garner (Thomas Smith), Savannah Garner (James Luckey) and Andrea Garner, all of Alexandria; four grandsons; parents, Ray and Pam (Widener) Garner of Alexandria; brother, Raymond "Butch" Garner Jr. of Elwood; sister, Teal (Shawn) Brown of Houston, Texas; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; a great-niece and a great-nephew.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1401 S. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Mark Diemer officiating.
Friends are invited to call on the family at the church after 5 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service. Cremation has taken place.
Owens Funeral Home is honored to care for Hoyt and serve the Garner family.
