Hubert D. Hinkle, 87, formerly of Anderson, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, in Mesa, Arizona.
He was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Anderson to the late Forrest Dale and Luella Montrea (Scott) Hinkle.
He retired from Guide after 38 years; while there he was a member of the Night Bowlers Association and of the softball league. He attended The Nazarene Church in Anderson before becoming a member of First United Methodist Church of Anderson and Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Mesa. He was also a member of Elks Lodge 209, Edgewood Country Club, Painted Mountain Country Club, FMCA Association, Coast to Coast and Colorado River Adventures RV Resort Clubs.
He enjoyed traveling, having many adventures in his motor home. He was also an avid fisherman, spending numerous summers in Cicero and of course golfing, having shot three holes-in-one.
Hubert is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Carol Ann (Wood) Hinkle; children, Kelly Ann Hinkle of Anderson, Cathy King of Selma, Chris (wife, Lois) Hinkle of Indianapolis; stepdaughter, Julie Ann Roberts of Beaverton, Oregon; siblings, Helen Johnson of Henderson, Nevada, Herschel (wife, Nancy) Hinkle of Lapel, Howard (wife, Jayne) Hinkle of Muncie; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Gene King.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Hope Reist.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with the Rev. Bill Mathys officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Anderson.
Visitation will be an hour prior to services.
