Ida S. Combs, 86, of Anderson, passed away on July 26, 2017, at Community Hospital Anderson. She was born Feb. 16, 1931, in Lower Ball Creek, Kentucky, and resided most of her life in Anderson.
Ida graduated from Pikeville College, and received her master's degree from Ball State University.
She retired in 2007 from Frankton-Lapel Community School Corporation after 41 years of teaching.
She was a member of Indiana State Teachers Association and United Baptist Church in Elmrock, Kentucky. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning and cooking, but most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Ida is survived by her sons, Michael (Jennifer) Combs and Mark (Lisa) Combs; sisters, Ogie Noble and Eva Dobson; grandchildren, Joshua Combs, Katrina (Chris) Turner, Kasey Combs, Dylan Combs, Cody Combs and Michelle (Chris) Holloway; great-grandchildren, Vyolet, Rowan and Zane Turner, Abree Combs, Lowyn Coffee, Carter Holloway; special friends, Norma Taylor, Naomi and Marlyn Davis; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Combs; mother, Annie Sparkman; father, Henderson Sparkman; brothers, Lacey Sparkman, Haulie Sparkman, Curtis (Hoob) Sparkman and Willie Sparkman; and her sister, Grace Marshall.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Hilligoss officiating.
Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park.
