J. Paul Hughes, 75, of Anderson, died Aug. 18, 2017, at St. Vincent Anderson Hospital after an extended illness.
Paul was born Dec. 7, 1941, the son of Donald and Connie (Benfield) Hughes.
He was a hair stylist for 55 years and owned the Mane Event.
He attended Sherman Street Church of God and was a member of Masonic Lodge; Madison County Shrine Club, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite; the Hairdresser Association and the Kidney Foundation.
He was active in the theater arts especially Anderson's Mainstage Theatre.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Thomas and his son, Robert Hughes, both of Kokomo; granddaughter, Olivia Smith of Kokomo; brother, Vern Hughes of Rangeley, Colorado; four sisters, Mary Cook of Alexandria, Eileen Hughes of Knoxville, Tennessee, Avis (Steve Allen) of Woodway, Virginia, and Louise Short of Pennington Gap, Virginia; many nieces, nephews; and special friend, Scott Johns of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanne (Hanna) Hughes; siblings, Don Hughes, Lois Flatford, Ellis Hughes, Carl Hughes and Hannalou Sutton.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Ragen Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family to help with expenses.
