James L. Shively, 88, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at Florida Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
For the past several years Jim resided in Frostproof, Florida. He was born on May 14, 1929, in Anderson, to Roy F. and Mary L. (Foland) Shively.
James married Carolyn Sue Romine on Aug. 28, 1948 and they shared 40 years together.
James co-owned and operated Frankton Machine & Tool Inc. with his brother Walter E. Shively for many years and retired in 1996. He was a 50-year member and past master of the Frankton Masonic Lodge; and a member of the Shrine Club, Alexandria Eagles, Alexandria Elks, and Yule Golf Club.
He was a member of the Frankton Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed golf, bowling, traveling in his motor home and above all else fishing.
James is survived by his daughter, Deborah S. (Larry) Atkins of Canton, Georgia; two sons, Rex D. Shively (Susanne) of Anderson, and Kevin E. Shively (Rita) of Anderson; grandchildren, Scott, Dawn, Craig, A.J., Andy and April, as well as, 16 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Marshal D. Shively, Larry F. Shively, and Martha L. Beason; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn; son, James L. "Butch" Shively; daughter, Dana L. McCord; brother, Walter E. Shively; and sister, Margaret I. Ludwick.
A funeral service celebrating James' life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton,with the Rev. Carol Whetsel-Alvernaz officiating. Burial will follow in the Frankton K of P/IOOF Cemetery in Frankton.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.
