Jeffery Matthew Ake ANNAPOLIS, Md. [mdash] Jeffery Matthew Ake was born Dec. 15, 1952, in Anderson, Indiana; and died Jan. 10, 2019, in Annapolis, Maryland.
He was the son of Edwin M. Ake and Phyllis J Ake (Hart); brother of Cheryl (Ake) Porter, Edwin Daniel Ake, Mark Ake and Kimberlee (Ake) Weightman.
Matt, who was an avid reader and an enthusiastic fisherman, will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery where his brother Daniel is interred at a graveside ceremony to be scheduled at a later date.
In 1971 he graduated Anderson Senior High School and entered the military during the Vietnam Conflict and became a specialist. While at Fort Belvoir he earned a diploma from the Department of Defense. The University of the State of New York awarded him an Associate in Arts degree. He received a Certificate of Scholarship from the University of Maryland, University College European Division; he also earned an Associate in Arts from the University of Maryland, University College.
In Muncie, Indiana, attending Ball State University, he became a Doctoral Fellow and achieved degrees from Ball State University and taught at the same university.
In New Orleans, Louisiana, he received a diploma from the State of Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education Completion of the Course of Study prescribed for Louisiana Tourism Program from the New Orleans Regional Vocational-Technical Institute, was a docent at the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, and radio station WWOZ provided an opportunity to disc jockey.
In Washington, D.C., he was an associate curator in the Historical Collection at the National Museum of Health and Medicine of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Walter Reed Medical Center and as a docent with the Smithsonian American Folk Life Festivals.
After 43 years of love and laughter, he will be greatly missed by Sally.

Knowing Jeff when we were in our teens he was always kind and thoughtful. His many accomplishments doesn't come as a surprise. Gone but not forgotten. God Bless
