Joanne Ellis Grady at age 88, a resident of Atlanta, Georgia, since 1980, passed away on July 18, 2017.
She was born in Anderson, Indiana, on Dec. 23, 1928, the daughter of John and Opal Ellis. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1947.
She and her high school sweetheart, Mead Grady, were married when he returned from military duty in 1948. She devoted all her life to be a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She maintained their home with intimate warmth and motherly love. She was always there to support her husband, Mead, and their daughters, Cynthia and Melissa, in their professional and personal endeavors.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with the current events. She was devoted to all her family and took great pleasure in family gatherings and being with friends.
Joanne is survived by her husband Mead; granddaughters Corri Parker (Riley), Danielle Holland (Neal), grandsons, Justin Borem (Sarah), Jason Borem (Stephanie) and Christopher Borem, as well as five great-granddaughters and one great grandson. She has also survived nieces living in Indiana, North Carolina, Florida and a nephew living in Indiana.
Daughters Melissa and Cynthia preceded her in death.
Joanne was a member of the Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the Kellett Chapel of the Peachtree Presbyterian Church 3434 Roswell Road, Atlanta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in her memory to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the Peachtree Presbyterian Church or the charity of their choice.
