John Charles Weist

John Charles Weist MARKLEVILLE [mdash] John "Jack" Charles Weist, 77, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019.
He was born Oct. 16, 1941, in Muncie to the late Donald L. and Marjorie Weist. He graduated from Ball State University.
Jack retired from the Pendleton Correctional Facility as Deputy Warden, having worked there for over 30 years. He had also been the Assistant Chief of Markleville PD for 23 years. He was a member of Lions Club International and served as Past District Governor from 2009-2010. He was a deacon at East Christian Church in Markleville, member of Markleville AmVets and past Mason. He was past president of the US Deputy Warden Association and served as a board member for many years. He was also a current board member of the Fall Creek Regional Waste District.
Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jane (Irwin) Weist; sons, Samuel (wife, Racheal) Weist and Benjamin (wife, Margaret) Weist; grandchildren, Sammy, Andrew, Anna, Abby, Eli, Ben, Danielle, Jenny and Ashley Weist; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betsy Weist.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Wilkinson. Burial will be at Harlan Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

I remember John well I was a correctional officer from 82 to 85 at the Indiana Reformatory sorry to see him go condolences to his family
