Joseph's Story

Joseph F. Wells, 91, of Anderson, passed away on March 27, 2017, at Rawlins Nursing Home in Pendleton.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1926, in Pottstown, Pa. Joseph graduated from Duke University in 1949 with a degree in electrical engineering. He then went on to Northwestern for his masters. He served one year in the U.S. Naval Service in 1945, and then went to work for RCA Records in Chicago, Ill.
He met his wife, Marilyn, who was working as a receptionist for RCA at the time, and they married and had two sons. Joseph managed the RCA recording studios from 1957-1972. He later transferred to Indianapolis and became manager of quality control for RCA's records and tapes division. Later, after his children were grown, he moved to Florida to help take care of his father-in-law. He then moved back up to Anderson 10 years ago with his wife Marilyn to be closer to family. Joseph is described as a deeply religious man, who had a Methodist minister for a father, who loved his family and his work. Joseph is survived by his son, Joe Wells; former daughter-in-law, Janet Dyson-Wells; granddaughter, Allyson (Chris) Smith; grandson, Jesse Wells; and great-granddaughter, Hadley Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; and son, Paul Wells.
