Julia Lee (Wable) Cook, 82, Anderson, after being baptized as a teenager she finished her journey to the Lord on Nov. 13, 2017. Julia was born Dec. 9, 1934, at St. John's Hospital in Anderson to Charles and Bertie Wable.
She grew up in Wilkinson and attended Wilkinson High School graduating in 1953. She worked in various restaurants after high school, she worked for Public Taxi for 20 years, then worked for K-Mart Southdale until closing. She worked for St. John's Health System in the cafeteria before retiring in 2006.
Julia enjoyed cooking for the election polls. In 2002 she started going to her high school reunions with her daughter, Becky. She enjoyed sewing and crafts.
Julia was married to Jack Riley in 1954 until his death in 1965. On May 23, 1967, she married Richard J. Cook and they were married 38 years until his death on July 8, 2005.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Raymond) Johnson, Patricia Willhoite, Debbie (Charlie) Sherrick, Becky (John Dolenski) York, and Michael Riley; grandchildren, Chad Johnson, Jerod Craig, Tim Jones, Richard Burch, Chelsea (Bobbie Mullins) York, and Kayleigh York; stepgrandchildren, Dakota Jones, Kerry Cook, and Lynn Guerrero. Also surviving are great-granddogs, Baby, Clyde, Forrest, Jax, Duo, C.J., Daisy, Piper, Eve, Bailey, and Nike.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Kelli Johnson, Brandi Riley, David Gray; stepson, Mark Cook; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Mary Cook; and aunt Amy Wigner.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
