Karen Garland left her earthly home Thursday, June 15, 2017, and went to be with her Lord and savior.
Karen was born January 9, 1970, to Thomas E. and Ruth A. (Ward) Burton, at St. John's Hospital in Anderson.
Upon graduating from Madison Heights H.S Class of 1988, Karen then decided to join the Marine Corps and spent part of those four years in Okinawa. Karen later attended Harrison College, Anderson, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, April 24, 2015.
Karen was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church all of her growing-up years and later attended Madison Park Church of God. Karen met Mike Garland at Southern Heights Church when they were teenagers. They found each other again as adults, September of 2009, and were married on April 20, 2013.
Those surviving and blessed with good memories of Karen are her husband, Mike; parents; daughter, Alexandria (husband Jake) Thomason, Anderson; sons, Taylor Sosinski and Thomas Sosinski, Michigan; granddaughter, Christena Sosinski, Anderson; brothers: Steve (wife, Lisa) Burton, Indianapolis; Dan (wife, Jill) Burton, Anderson; Jeff Burton, Westfield; and David Burton, Anderson; stepsons: Daniel, James and Kain Garland; stepdaughter, Arianna Garland; nieces and nephews, aunt and uncle, cousins, and special friend, Michelle Payne.
As per Karen's wishes, cremation and organ donation were chosen. A private memorial service for family and close friends will be at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service Chapel, Tuesday, June 20, 2017, 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Madison County Humane Society or CASA of Madison County.
