Kathryn Diane Wheeler, 58, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, after a brief illness.
She was born March 25, 1959, to R.B. "Butch" Jr. and Maude Wheeler. She accepted Christ at an early age at Holy Ghost Temple Church. She recently rededicated her life with Pastor William O'Neal, Second Missionary Baptist Church at her side along with her siblings. She was a fun loving person whose main goal in life was to entertain others and make them smile or laugh with her antics. "Katherine" is the name she was known by but had many nicknames: "Kat", "Bat", "Batherine", "Kat in the Hat" or "Granny."
Kathryn worked as an office assistant for Mrs. Carrie Hyatt at the Second Harvest Food Bank in the late 70's before her disability.
She loved to clown around imitating her Dad with a dance called, "The Butch."
She is survived by her life partner, Thomas Davis; one son, John H. (Nitrala) Logan Jr.; daughter, Katina D. Logan; grandchildren, Monique (Taryn) Whigham, Scott "Dougie" Nelson Jr., Tamarje English, and Trinity Logan; brother, Curtis (Patricia) Wheeler; three sisters, Essie (Wiley) Woods, Karen "Loopie" (Michael) Jackson, and Tammie (Alex) Peel; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; and special daughter, Ra'shia Nance.
Special thanks to the ICU Staff at Community Hospital, the Country Side Manor Nursing home and our rocks, aunts, Eula Mae Wheeler, and Mother Ethel Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charles Wheeler, twin sisters, Mary and Martha Wheeler; grandparents, Eulie and Maggie Jones, R.B. Sr. and Jessie Mae Wheeler.
Services will be at noon Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Second Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the church. Pastor William O'Neal will officiate. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to L.C. May Funeral Service.
