Kuniko's Story

Kuniko Kawasaki, 80, died on Feb. 25, 2017, in Lebanon, Tenn. She was attended by her family.
Surviving Kuniko are her daughter, Aki; her son, Ken; and her five grandchildren, Clayton, Caleb, Cassi, Victor and Maximilien.
Kuniko was born and raised in Nagoya, Japan. Through her joy of teaching, she obtained her university degree in education and taught the English language for several years. In 1965, she moved to Anderson, Indiana with her husband and daughter. While in Anderson, Kuniko developed her talent as an artist, obtaining a master's degree at Ball State University and exhibiting her works at venues such as the Anderson Fine Arts Center and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. She continued her 22-year career as a teacher of art as well as the Japanese language and culture in the Anderson Community School system retiring in 2002.
She was a member of Park Place Church of God until the time of her move to Tennessee for health-related reasons. She will be remembered for her kindness, individuality and selflessness.
A private remembrance was held during her cremation at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon, Tenn.
