Lilly Lucille Cox, 86, Alexandria, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at the Alexandria Care Center following a long journey through Alzheimer's.
She was born March 12, 1931, in Metamora, Illinois, to Elmer and Etta (Wallace) Brewer. Lucille devoted her life to caring for her family and providing for their home. She enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Cox, whom she married Jan. 4, 1948; son, Rick (Karen) Cox of Alexandria; daughter, Patricia Swisher of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Bradley (Mae) Swisher of Alexandria and Ryan (Stacy) Swisher of Wabash; sisters, Edna Dennison of St. Charles, Illinois, and Mary Van Sickle of Coshocton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Cox.
Services honoring Lucille's life will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct.30, 2017, at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Kal Rissman officiating. Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Alexandria.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm.
