Madeena F. "Deenie" Ashby, 88, passed away Jan. 1, 2018, at Community Hospital of Anderson following an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Elwood, to Lawrence and Edith (Fullen) Walker, and was a graduate of Elwood High School-Class of 1948. Deenie worked at Danner's, formerly of Alexandria, for 17 years retiring in 1983. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making crafts.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam (Larry) Staton of Kimmel, Indiana; two sons, Mike (Linda) Ice of Alexandria, and Randy (Cherie) Ice in Colorado; stepdaughters, Victoria (John) Gilbert and Cindy (Kevin) Jackson; stepson, Mike (Diane) Ashby, all of Chesterfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William "Lit" Ashby, Dec. 12, 2017; son, David Ashby; granddaughter, Shelly Rene` Ashby; and seven siblings.
Services honoring Deenie's life and legacy will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Alexandria. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
