Martha E. Thornburg, 98, of Yorktown, passed away on Jan. 13, 2018, at Yorktown Manor.
She was born Aug. 29, 1919, in Lafayette, Indiana to Maria and Samuel Baltimore. She lived in several cities in central Indiana but eventually moved to Muncie. She worked at Ross Grocery Store, Wilson Junior High, and Lowry's Candy Store. Martha volunteered at Ball Hospital, member of the Muncie Order of Eastern Star and a 50-year member, and a longtime faithful member of the Avondale United Methodist Church serving on many church committees. She was a good homemaker, an avid golfer and enjoyed Pacers basketball games.
She is survived by her sons, Mikel (Brenda) Thornburg of Yorktown and Paul Keith (Lynn) Thornburg of Alexandria; six granddaughters; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Barton Thornburg; two sisters, Alberta and Lilly; one daughter, Rhonda (Thornburg) Blanton Corn; and one granddaughter, Lisa.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams St., Muncie, with Pastor Jerry Thomas officiating.
Friends may call at Parson Mortuary Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Thursday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Burial will be at Elm Ridge Memorial Park, Muncie.
