ANDERSON [mdash] Mary A. Harris 71, of Anderson, passed away on Oct. 24, 2017, after a brief illness.
Though she was ill, she was a frequent visitor of our community nursing homes, and she would help anyone in need from cooking a meal, baking a pie or babysitting. She had an unwavering faith in God and his faithfulness and had a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Mary was born in Griffin, Georgia, on July 13, 1946, to Isaac and Ida Williams. She worked for Johns-Manville, and afterward she became a housekeeper. She loved the people for whom she worked and looked at them as family to which a special bond was established that she always cherished. Therefore, it would be remiss without mentioning them. Norma Schlossberg and her daughters and their husbands Ellen Schlossberg (Stanley) Eisen, Paula Schlossberg (Brett) Zankel and their families. Mary Carter Greenwood and her children Kieara Carter, Kevin Carter, Korey Carter and granddaughter Keidra Carter.
Mary is survived by her children, Beatrice (Louis Jr.) Jackson, of Anderson, Christine Harris (fiance Stephen), of Fisher, and Christopher Harris, of Anderson, Anthony Varner, of Indianapolis; her grandchildren, Antonia Troutman, Terrance Harris, Jacqueline Harris, Louis III (Nikhea)Jackson, Jasmine Jackson, Nisa Varner, KaSiya Varner, Anthony Varner Jr. Marquise Varner; great-grandchildren,,Alexander Troutman, Teairra Troutman, Aaron Morgan Jr. Dailyn Loggins, Khaidyn Loggins, Louis Jackson IV, Josiah Jackson, Terrance Harris Jr., Torrance Harris, Jeremiah Jackson; siblings, Geneva Head, Connie Pope, of Atlanta, Georgia., Barbara Williams, Ida Mae Wiliams, Tommie Williams, Gary Williams, of Griffin, Georgia;; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends. Special friends, Sarah Wilson, Constance Boards, Della and Bettie May.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Isaac Williams; mother, Ida Williams; son, Bobby Williams; sister, Sarah Williams; brothers, Isaac Williams Jr. and James Williams.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 1610 W. 22nd St., Anderson, with District Elder Eddie Robinson officiating. Service will follow noon. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery.
