He was born July 21, 1924, in Elwood, the son of Harry D. and Mamie (Carlton) Procter. He was a 1942 graduate of Frankton High School. Murice married the love of his life, Anna Usfo, on Oct. 20, 1945, and they shared over 73 years of marriage together.
He was a member of Harmony Christian Church. Murice started helping on the family farm at the young age of 6 years old. He remained a lifelong grain farmer and also formerly raised livestock. Murice absolutely loved everything about farming, and he stayed connected to his family farm well beyond retirement in 1992. His good friend, Garland Antrim, always included Murice in the latest farm reports, and he enjoyed this very much.
Murice was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Indiana Farmers Union. He especially enjoyed restoring and collecting antique Farm-All tractors through the years. Murice was also skilled at designing and adapting machinery around the farm for various needs. He enjoyed numerous pets and animals through the years, and he also enjoyed watching western movies and following politics. Murice will be remembered as a respected farmer in the community with deep integrity and a man who was truly devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Murice's family includes his wife, Anna Procter of Elwood; three daughters, Jackie Lorensberg of Windfall, Kathryn (Gary) Wilson of Elwood, and Deborah (Ted) Moser of Elwood; six grandchildren, Christina Wilson-Frank, Angela (Shannon) Deckard, Lisa Wilson, Brian Lorensberg, Marcus Henderson, and Elizabeth (Jarrod) Romine; several great-grandchildren; and special extended family members, Garland Antrim and his family.
